Not a year goes by that this song does not come to mind....so with December's arrival soon, I could not help but post it...not as a sad song...but as a reminder of how many Decembers we have all made it through. I first heard this song the year I came to New York. I was soooo homesick, and my new life was not quite as rosy as it looked. I listened to this song over and over....the years passed, and the song always gets played....I played through the births and deaths of children, family members, times of hardship, and times that we had no clue how it would all work out.....That is alot of play for one song !!!
As I have gotten older...no comments there Jason...I now look forward to whatever December brings us....you see we now know that we have made it through so many Decembers....so many hardships...and so many blessings... I know that I can count on us old folks to survive.....
I worry about the young ones, because I fear that they might not be as strong as we are....but then again, I can bet there were older folks back then, saying these same words....
So before you think this is just one of those older folks blog entries....it isn't. The most important gift I could ever give those I care about are these words...I am happy....
and indeed I am....
I am blessed many times over.....and grateful that this year I have amazing people around me...my family is strong, loving and most of all makes me laugh...smile...and feel special...
I ask you...what more could I want???....so just because I always play it...
Here is If we make it through December......
If we make it through December
Everythings gonna be all right I know
It's the coldest time of winter
And I shiver when I see the fallin snow
If we make it through December
I got plans of bein in a warmer town come summer time
Maybe even California
If we make it through December we'll be fine
I got laid off down at the factory
And there timings not the greatest in the world
Heaven knows I been workin' hard
I wanted Christmas to be right for daddy's girl
Now I don't mean to hate December
It's meant to be the happy time of year
And why my little girl don't understand
Why daddy can't afford no Christmas here
If we make it through December
Everythings gonna be alright I know
It's the coldest time of winter
And I shiver when I see the fallin' snow
If we make it through December
I got plans of bein' in a warmer town come summer time
Maybe even California
If we make it through December we'll be fine
and I am betting we do make it through...
